Jeep JK Wrangler LS / LT Swap Information

We offer a few different options for installing a GM LS or LT based engine into your Jeep JK.

DIY - Do It Yourself Conversion Components

We supply the conversion kit parts you need, and you do the swap in your garage at your own pace—or until you run out of beer. You supply your complete powertrain and miscellaneous parts needed.

DIFM - Do It For Me

We do the install in-house and hand you the keys to your LS or LT-powered JK.

Repower Package

Not Currently Available

We ship you a fully completed GM powertrain with our conversion harness fully installed and programmed. All you need to do is weld on the mounts, drop in the powertrain, and hook up the wires. Some additional assembly required.

Engine Options Overview

GEN3 LS (2003–2006): Drive-by-wire truck engines (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L) * for 2007–2011 JKs only *.
GEN4 LS (2007–2013): More CANbus-compliant options, better support, full integration.
GEN5 LT (2014+): Latest GM tech — direct injection, better power and fuel economy.

LM7 5.3L V8 — 285–295 HP / 320 lb-ft, cast iron block (VIN "T")Found in: 1999–2006 Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon
L59 5.3L V8 — 285–295 HP / 320 lb-ft, Flex-fuel version of LM7 (VIN "Z")Found in: 2002–2007 Silverado, Suburban, Avalanche (Flex-Fuel)
L33 5.3L V8 — 310 HP / 335 lb-ft, aluminum block, flat top pistons, 799 heads (VIN "B")Found in: 2005–2007 Silverado/Sierra Extended Cab 4x4 (Z71)
LQ4 6.0L V8 — 300–325 HP / 360–370 lb-ft, iron block (VIN "U")Found in: 2001–2006 Silverado HD, Suburban 2500, Yukon XL 2500
LQ9 6.0L V8 — 345 HP / 380 lb-ft, high-compression version of LQ4 (VIN "N")Found in: 2002–2006 Cadillac Escalade, Silverado SS, Denali

GEN3 Transmission Options

With a GEN3 swap, you can use the following automatic transmissions:

4L60E / 4L65E — 4-speed automatics compatible with the GEN3 PCM.
4L80E — Heavy-duty 4-speed automatic; ensure PCM is programmed for it.

These transmissions can be adapted to the stock Jeep JK transfer case with the correct adapter. Be sure the GM PCM is programed for the transmission type you're using.

6L80 / 6L90 — 6-speed automatics with internal TCM; ideal for full integration swaps.
